Dry as a….

Well, it’s been a dry old summer hasn’t it? Our compost heaps are not as decomposed as we would have liked, but when we turned the piles this week it was lovely to find them damp inside, and crawling with life – worms and busy little crustaceans and billions of other tiny life forms we can’t see but can witness their work as the carbon breaks down.

Keep bringing us your lovely green waste and we’ll let you know as soon as we have finished compost to offer…..

Behold our fancy ‘pavillion’

Another reason to hope for rain is so we can test out our impressive new shelter (which is far too fancy to be called simply a shelter). Volunteer Matt, a joiner by trade, led a super crew of helpers to get this up for us. We are so proud of it! And looking forward to many a brew and a natter under its smart green roof. Thank you Matt!

Date for the diary

Our first AGM is scheduled for Monday 29th September, 7pm in the Balcony Bar at Stroud Brewery. We will be voting in Directors for the upcoming year, reflecting on a brilliant year gone by, and looking forward to potential new developments as the seasons change. You don’t need to be a member to attend, but you do need to be a member to take part in voting.

If you’re intending to join BATCOM, click here – this link will take you to a form where you can apply to become a CBS member and/or subscribe to the composting scheme. Please do so by 7th September so we can process your application in time for you to vote this year.

To give us an idea of numbers for the AGM, please let us know you’re coming via our Doodle sign-up here.

New director needed

Kate Cole, our fab Director Secretary, will be stepping down as director in September and we are looking for a member to fill her boots! We have a friendly board of six directors who meet regularly to run the BATCOM show. If you’d like to know more about the position and what it involves, please get in touch by replying to this email or speak to a volunteer on site.
