We are now closed on Monday evenings as the nights draw in, but you’ll still find us on site on Saturday mornings between 10am-Midday.
Please ensure you continue to seperate your green waste to help volunteers sort the chipping…. one pile is for soft greens, the other for woody trimmings and branches.
Also – bring your autumn leaves in their own bag for the leaf mould bay.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for our inaugural AGM on 29th September – we’ve got some new ideas now bubbling in the pot and we’re delighted to welcome Simon Deeves and Alison Willis on board as new directors this year.
This Autumn we have a limited supply of compressed woodshavings briquettes (great for woodburners) and also woodchips available for a donation – pop in on a Saturday morning or reply to this email for details.

Singo Bingo! November 20th
The squashbuckling pirate in the picture above is the talented and very, very funny Kim Flannery, pictured here hosting one of her themed ‘Singo Bingo’ community fundraisers at Stroud Brewery. We are delighted to announce that she’ll be putting on a gig there for BATCOM on Thursday 20th November (send theme ideas on a postcard please). If you like a night out with friends, beer and bellylaughs in the name of a great cause…. then this one is for you!
A Stroud Community Composting Network?
A group of BATCOMers headed to an evening at SVA recently to hear ‘Flatpack Democracy’ author Peter MacFadyen talk about his involvement with Loop Frome, a community composting project of a different sort – taking food waste from businesses and turning it into super-rich living compost for residents of the town. Peter’s visionary approach in co-creating a circular economy is just one inspiration for several Stroud grass-roots groups (including BATCOM) starting to come together to form a Stroud Community Composting Network with the enthusiastic support of Gloucestershire Composting Co-ordinator Karen Phimister. Watch this space for interesting developments….
The meeting was attended by local artist Jaine Rose who created this fascinating illustration of conversations as they happened. Now that’s a way to take minutes.
