New Summer Season opening times
The lighter evenings are here and BATCOM is now open every Monday between 6-8pm as well as the usual Saturdays 10am-12pm – brought to you by our amazing team of volunteers putting in the extra hours on site and behind the scenes.

Sunday 7th June – BATCOM’s Summer Plant Sale
You might have noticed our growing collection of propagated summer plants on site for BATCOM’s Summer Plant Sale in June. We also have seedlings undercover! If you have any spares this year, could you donate them to our fundraiser?
Enjoy baking? We are asking for contributions to our Cake Stall…
…and if you have pre-loved garden tools, books or any other gardening paraphernalia to rehome we’d love to have them for our Garden Whatnots Stall!

What to do with rootstocks
and rootbound plants
There’s been a big increase in clods of turf and big rootstocks in deposits recently. These won’t compost whole in our bays, but contain stones and cannot go through our chipper. Unfortunately we don’t have the capacity to process them at BATCOM, so we have to ask you to do the following:
To compost a rootbound plant or rootstock, soak it first in water. Massage the roots once loose and thoroughly wash out any soil and stones, and chop it up with secateurs. Voila! Throw in your BATCOM bag and bring it down 🙂
BATCOM runs on the support of its members via paid subscriptions and volunteer power. We’re always keen to welcome new helpers! Currently we have a need for site volunteers, and behind the scenes we are looking for someone to help with our accounts. If this could be you, please email us at hello@batcom.org.uk
