We like rats, we really do – we like them as neighbours, down by the riverbank. We just don’t want to invite them for dinner. Or for them to move in with us.
It’s windfall season, and although you might get away with the odd apple in with your garden waste, please be reminded that we can’t take spoiled fruit and veg at BATCOM – it’s food waste, not green waste, and very attractive for rodents. This includes bags of apples, pears or plums, branches laden with fruit, slug-munched veggies or old pumpkins and squashes. Thanks for not bringing any!
BATCOM AGM – Save the date
Our next Annual General Meeting will be held at Stroud Brewery in the evening of Monday 28th September. We’ll be looking at the past year and talking about plans for the year ahead, and voting in our board of directors for the next 12 months.
Everyone is invited to attend, and if you are a co-operative member/shareholder you will be invited to vote too. You can also stand to be a director…

Here’s some photos of Simon’s RHS garden being installed at Thrupp School. The plants have had a wild adventure being potted up, transported to Badminton, planted, dug and potted up again, transported to Thrupp, hanging out in a volunteer’s garden for a while before finally being planted in their new home at Thrupp School with a generous application of freshly sieved community compost. What a ride!
Big Steve our industrial sieve has been put through his paces and sadly needs a bit of restoration after his rusty parts couldn’t withstand the action…. he’s going for a bit of R&R at a member’s workshop and should be back with us again soon. However we still have a few bags of delicious sieved compost available on site – donations appreciated, with thanks…
